And don't forget "Surrender" by Cheap Trick. There are probably half a dozen Cheap Trick tunes that start with snare. Bun E. Carlos is the KING of the snare fill!!!

And the winner (sic) for most intro snare hits is ... "Ballad of the Green Berets" by Sgt. Barry Sadler

And for starting with (mostly) snare (and tambourine and stomping(?) and/or claps(?) - and continuing likewise for the duration:

They're Coming To Take Me Away by Napoleon XIV

Swervedriver's "Bubbling Up" has the coolest snare intro ever. It's a sped up roll that sweeps down to standard pitch right before the guitar starts.

No one said Young Americans-David Bowie

rrrrat tat ta-tat boom ta-ta boom ba-boom!

What about Life's Been Good by Joe Walsh... does the snare or the kick hit first?

I think technically there's one tom hit before the snare, but Lipstick Vogue by Elvis Costello has one of my favorite drum fills at the beginning.

Don't know if it technically starts with a snare, but The Kinks' "Yes Sir, No Sir" fades in with some cool little snare rolls.

Word.
