The perfect No-Name Guitar Amp...

Post by Knights Who Say Neve » Mon Nov 22, 2004 8:35 pm

...or at least no name I can find just a model number, 1263. Looks like a shrunken Bassman head, but with a chrome faceplate and white lettering. Tweed below that (on the front). I think the guy said it's a "Manley" but I've never heard of them. No mention on the Manley/Langevin website, and this amp is at least 30 years old by the looks of it. 2 channels, one volume/tone (2 inputs) with tremelo, and 1 without. Red pilot light! 3 12ax7, 2 6v6, 1 6ca4 (I assume this is a rectifier tube, as it sits next to the power transformer away from the other tubes). Really loud through a 4x12 cab, probably Class A (how to tell?), with AMAZING volume dynamics. Like an old bassman head in that respect. Did Manley ever make guitar amp heads?

Email Evana. She would know, as her last name is Manley and she runs the company. I wouldnt be surprised if they made a few heads when the were still VTL manufactured, but with papa manley designing hifi tube amps and gigantic, chrome, mono hifi stuff with tubes in it.

Vacuum tube laboratories (VTL).

Email someone at the manley site.
They are all nice people.

That's it! It's a Silvertone 1263. Thanks oobedoob. (And I feel like laughing when I type your name). Great page link too...
