yeahs and nahs pleeza! Berhinger T1953
Anyone dig 'em or is it just a box full-o ART fakey tube pre's?
Sure look cuul, like an old Ampex.
,or what about the M-Audio DMP3? Also as a direct for a synth maybe?
General feelings about the AKG C430 overhead pair?
I got some return money coming my way at the G-tard Sinter.

Looks waaaaay cooler than it sounds. If you turn the "vintagizer" knob all the way down it's about as good as a crappy behringer board preamp. If you use the vintagizer knob and put the tube in the signal it's a crappy behringer board preamp with a crappy tube in the signal. I have one and I use it for stuff like the scratch vocal mic tha's getting repalced and my talkback mic...utilitarian stuff.

I've gotta agree with softie... I got suckered too. It's a pre-amp, hardly anything special about it. I've tried it on just about everything, but I never use on anything I want to sound decent. Lately I use it for scratch tracks, or sometimes a crappy fuzzy bass guitar sound but honestly my crappy PAiA tube pre sounds better for crappy fuzzy bass, and I found that in a junk bin at a guitar shop for free. Doesn't say much for the Berhinger...
Re: yeahs and nahs pleeza! Berhinger T1953
Sucks. Put it this way...the preamps on a Mackie 1202 blow it out of the water. The tube 'warmth' knob sounded more like adding a smidgeon of 12kHz from a soid state EQ. And to boot, mine started crapping out. The pots got scratchy and shorted, VU display lights went out. I feel for anyone who bought one when the were $600. Damn!
Re: yeahs and nahs pleeza! Berhinger T1953
its funny, the ones i always see look like they have been returned several times.
for that much i would better off just getting a little spirit notepab mixer.

They blow. They are worse than the RNP, which says a lot.

Old post, but how did I miss this the first time?
We have one as well. I opened it up immediately when we got it, and the HUGE box is empty. I swear to you that although it's one of the biggest racks I've ever seen (besides, you know, a Fairchild) there is NOTHING BUT AIR in the box. You could secretly patch in about four MXR Dynacomps inside it and tell people it sounds vintage.
I'm not exaggerating. All the circuitry is on the front panel, and goes about an inch deep. The ONLY thing in the main box is the power supply, which takes up about four inches. You could honestly put a Pod in the empty space.
The sound.... well, it's alright. Nothing great, but similar to an ART Tube MP and not quite as good as an Aphex 107. I'll use it for less important tracks here and there, but it looks much cooler than it sounds. The Vintager knob does extremely little, if anything at all. The lights behind the tubes are always a bad sign..... There's no light behind the tube in a U-47

I had one. Sold it and the other random behringer preamps for $ to put towards an allen and heath mixwizard for the front end of my DAW.
it was OK, got the job done. the tube warmth is a joke. the unit prob looked good for clients though

Product Description
The Tube Ultragain is the best preamplifier that Behringer has ever produced. Not only did they choose the highest components available; in the input section circuitry they've bordered on breaking the laws of physics. With impressive results: absolutely pure audio quality and unbelievable detail resolution.....

I have an ultragain tube pre by behringer that I have made some excellent recordings with. I don't use it much anymore because the console that I bought ( amek angela) sounds really good. But I have several recordings where just about everything went through the behringer. It's better than no pre amp.

I own one and everything people have said here is absolutely true. Actually, it doesn't sound BAD at all...it's just totally neutral, with not a lot of character. Pretty much the same as a channel on a Behringer board. I switched out the tubes on mine for better ones and now instead of the tube effect making it sound trebly and scratchy, it adds the TINIEST bit of warmth. Barely noticeable. Wanna buy mine? It's on eBay right now for $140, you lucky bastards!

Had the Behry tube EQ...replaced the tubes also (with groove tubes). Definitely gave it some warmth and character. Not a bad unit once I did that, for the right purpose...
