GOT HIM!!!!!

I could not believe this one, especially the fact that it was set at $1000 even, so I did some google image searches and found this:

http://www.vintageloop.com/NeumannU67tu ... ],U89.html

So if there really is something that he's selling, it's not the one in the picture.

DON'T ANY OF YOU BUY THIS SHIT OR I'LL BE FORCED TO PERSONALLY COME TO YOUR SPACE AND STEAL ALL OF YOUR MICROPHONES!

You think we should email the bidders?

Good Job Deaf. These scammers are working fast and smart these days. I hope no one actually sends the scammer dough...

Thanks Larry.
I actually just emailed both the bidders, but on second look it seems like there's the possibility that those other bidders are shilling bids from the seller.
So I might have just tipped him off, but oh well.
I'm actually trying to email ebay about this, but I can't find a link to get a message to SafeHarbor.... anyone ever do this?

BTW, nice to see you on the new board, Mr. "LarryCraneEditor"!

soundguy wrote:ok, but here's the catch, what happens if you send the guy the money, and you actually get a U67 for $1k...

how bad would you be?

I suppose you could consider that a "calculated risk," but do you really want to risk a THOUSAND ENTIRE DOLLARS on a sunglassed seller with ZERO feedbback in a country where you will have NO LEGAL RECOURSE with a seller who will accept WIRE TRANSFER ONLY?

Remember, if it sounds too good t be true, IT IS!

And even if you get the mic - what condition is it in? How is the very expensive EF86, the hard-to-find electrolytic caps? The guy was using it for Karaoke? That makes me VERY suspicioius...
The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.

I stand corrected pre the above, I just read that the mic was recently serviced and that "the sound hear good and perfect." How can you pass up both good AND prefect hear sounding?

hehe, whenever i sell stuff on ebay, i ALWAYS jack a photo from somewhere else (unless i can't find one or it doesn't exist)... i'm simply too lazy to sit down and take a photo and upload it, etc. i just use google images and find a decent one and use it. sometimes i even jack information and photos from other ebay listings. i'm simply too lazy... hehehe.

damn, blu... I'm going to have to report you to SafeHarbor!

WAIT A SECOND!!!!!!-- you have time to sit in the middle of your breakfast and take a picture of a strawberry, upload it, then post a thread on the TapeOp board about how it looks like a heart but you dont' have time to take accurate pics of your auctions?!?!?!

nonsense!

I just got an email from the seller asking me if I would buy the mic from him for $2k. I wrote him back and told him that I was not interested in his auction, as I doubted his honesty.

I wrote the bidders and they said they had been waiting to get a response on S/N and more detailed pix... guess one of them won't be coming.

I wrote him this:
No I am not interested. The picture you posted for the auction is not a picture of the actual item and your price is too low for this microphone.

Thanks anyway,
-mark
And this is what I got back.
???
if you dont want to buy it please dont say like that OK.
You waste my time.
Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!

I wrote him back and asked for a picture of the actual mic and its serial number. Wonder if I'll get a reply.....

Here's what I got:
Hello the NU67 serial #5790, NU67 power supply serial #11346
Anyone else - get a different number by any chance?

WOOHOO! 30 posts... Hillary's gonna let me plug in the mics... maybe the 67! Now let's see, does that RCA 44 need phantom power? Better do it just to be safe!

Final price - $1275. For a U67. Riiiiiiiiiiiight.

I hope it's a scam because if I could have gotten a U67 for $1300, I'm gonna be kicking myself.
