Post by Quest Poetics » Sun Jan 04, 2004 10:02 pm

Here's a couple of mine...Laugh at me all you'd like but I cant help it...They take me to that special place...

Cruel summer by Bannaramma (reminds me of childhood/Karate kid)

Faith Geroge Michael...I remember hearing this as a kid and just digging it...Oh well

Oh my god there must be more but I'm too embarrased to admit...

Anyhow...

I liked that top 40 dance remake of Bryan Adams' 'Heaven' by...well, someone remade it.

Top 40, dance, Bryan Adams...how many more strikes against a song could you get?

on a semi-related note, not to hijack the thread, but a friend of mine has these things called "supermarket songs". They are the songs that you'd turn off in one second in your car, but, for some reason, when you hear them in the supermarket, you just think, "ok, yeah, it's allright".

For me it's a crappy song called "The captain of her heart" by some soft rock 80's band that was called "double" i think? Too long ago, too long apart...she couldn't wait another day for.....the captain of her heart.

But a regular song that I am ashamed to like is "Magic man" by Heart. it so...so 70's with that flange on the guitar and that moog break that has nothing to do with the song near the end, other than to attach the weird stoner part to the rest of the song.

I should have better sense than to admit this, but here goes:

Celine Dion's It's All Coming Back to Me Now
and My Heart Will Go On

I think that out-craps the crappiest songs listed here so far...

You might think I'd be ashamed to like these - but no. Not a bit of it.

Dancing in the City - Marshall Hain

Jump to the Beat - Stacey Lattisaw

"How Deep Is Your Love?" by the Bee Gee's. Actually, any of the dancey ones by the Bee-Gee's. No matter what you think of em, their songs typically have pretty cool chord arrangements.

And yeah, that new one by Enrique Inglesias (however you spell it)

(Dammit, why did I have to use my real name as my screename??)

As I type this, Huey Lewis and the News' "Do You Believe in Love?" is on VH1 Classic...

So while I don't know if there's an "uncool" song I'd say I'm ashamed to admit I like, I do like that one.

Tommy Shaw's "Girls With Guns" is on now, and it's kinda crap. Sorry Tommy.
"Jeweller, you've failed. Jeweller."

"Lots of people are nostalgic for analog. I suspect they're people who never had to work with it." ? Brian Eno

All the DWLB music is at http://dwlb.bandcamp.com/

Most of No Doubt's singles. Though I've sort of grown out of being embarrassed about things I like.

Speaking of supermarket music, I heard R.E.M.'s "Rockville" at Wal-Mart the other night. That was unbelievably odd...and blissfully reassuring.
