Thats not as bad as i expected. So what is the general procedure, just wrap them in burlap and mout them 2" from the wall? Would velvet work? Also how heavy is each board?

I dont know the weight of the oc panels..not extremely heavy though..you want the bass frequencies you dont want to pass through your fabric selection if your making bass traps which it seems you are..dense material like velvet will cause some interference in that process..as to what extent..I'm not sure..probably will deaden more high frequencies..
also don't you know how expensive velvet is !

Yeah, i saw that too. I emailed the author who now runs realtraps and got this response.

Yes, almost. :->)
What makes more sense is to buy four MondoTraps (or six MiniTraps) and make
your own mid/high frequency absorbers. MondoTraps and MiniTraps replace the
wood panel traps in my plans, and they work better too. Then you can buy
2-inch thick 703 rigid fiberglass panels, wrap them with burlap or whatever,
and put them on the walls and ceiling as needed.
Please let me know if I can be of further help.
Thanks.

Has anyone had the chance to compare the diy to the mondotraps? Is it really worth the cost difference? Also can you have too much bass trapping? Ive heard that its best to pull the fiberglass a few inches off the wall would this diminish their function as high/mid absorbers as well?
