pray it's better than the bomb factory fairchild plug-in. what a mess.
sure none of us will be buying one for our home studio.
but when you go to studio and hear a real fairchild 670.
it's pretty damned impressive. there's a re-issue that's supposed to be pretty cool too. john lennon did every vocal on every beatles album through one of these. and ringo's drums we're bussed through it. yeah, they're expensive. so are telefunken 251's. they're still cool.

What don't you like about it? Is it not a faithful rendering?

i liked the BF fairchild. i dont know if it sounded anything like a 660 but it was still pretty fresh. the only suckin thing about it was that the release was kinda slow but the attack was also kinda slow. enough so that if whatever youre compressing stops for a second, when it starts again it's gonna make like a 40 db spike if youre really slamming it! putting a limiter after it took care of it tho.
anyone know of any online info about the UAD fairchild? that would be so cool!

say you want to see the back of the fairchild..etc..
see what happens...
Well, I did just that and his response was:
HI MARK,
THANKS FOR YOUR INQUIRY REGARDING THE COMPRESSOR. I GOT IT FROM AN OLD STUDIO IN THE NEW YORK AREA. IT HAD BEEN IN A RACK UP THERE, NOT MOVED AT ALL..
I WILL HAVE MORE PICTURES AVAILABLE SUNDAY NIGHT. I'LL SEND THEM TO YOU THEN. THANKS
DENNIS
He also supplied a phone number. I'll wait to see if any picks show up. Doesn't really come across as a scammer, but the price is still ridiculous.

I dont trust anyone on eBay who sends me emails in all caps. Not because they're scammers, just because.
Of course, sometimes it seems that everyone on eBay is some level of scammer.
(Still smarting from an 8-track deal in the process of going horribly wrong.)

Besides the message being all caps, the font was also hot pink.

Clearly he was concerned you wouldnt read it otherwise.

Well, he just emailed me 12 photos of the unit. It sure looks like he's for real. Now if he'd just drop the price by a few (23) thousand.
