I'll second Ambience. I don't use a Mac, so I'm not sure how stable it is on that. I tend to use my room more than anything else for space in my recordings, but when I do reach for a reverb plug-in, this thing wins out almost every time. Better than SpinAudio's Roomverb, and much better than the Lexicon plug.
I think PSP's reverb plugin is available for a Mac, though not free. It's limited, but pretty good for what it does.

i've found a few that aren't bad -

for convolution there isn't much, but this one works pretty well, it's audiosuite only so i just duplicate the track i want reverb on (or create a submix), process and blend to taste...

I know it might be on the more expensive side (not free) but.. Has anyone tried the new Plate 140 Plug In from Universal Audio? I recently tried it and had to buy it. It really seemed to fill in those needs of good and not too cheezy.

I actually think the Steinberg NaturalVerb that comes with Wavelab sounds pretty good. I use it a lot on mixes that sound too dry.

Ya know I thought that to from time to time. I just figured that Waves would offer somthing that sounded better. But your right Nat. Verb has a great interface and is the olny verb plug i'll even conseder.

If used correctly, they're the most viable substitute for an actual room there is. Still not completely ideal, but pretty damn close in certain situations.
Yeah! Have you guys tried this:

Yeah, the SIR is awesome!! And it's free! Check it out!

I am using this on a current project after wrestling with some native reverbs and some other free verbs.

Check out SIR and then download a ton of free IR samples.
