STUPIDEST BAND NAME YOU'VE EVER HEARD?

i think the time has come for people to end this marching in line tradition of starting a band, naming the band, playing some shows, recording some songs... it's so fucking trite already!

it's always the same instruments with the same sorta grooves, the same look, the same distortions, the drums always use the same instruments, etc etc etc etc etc etc

isnt it at least a little weird that we've all come understand music in this ONE SINGULAR WAY? (myself included in that)

isnt there another way for people to express themselves musically?

all rock music ever, all hip hop and rap ever, all soul, country, maybe even reggae, (not free jazz i guess but i cant listen to that shit for more than 30 seconds without wanting to break someone's face), all folk, yeah even fucking classical - it's all the same shit!!

and when a group of people manage to not do the same ol garbage (like free jazz i guess), they still fuck it up by forcing themselves into being a "band" - with albums and cool pictures, etc

im not saying im above all this or that i dont love a lot of different music, but it does start to seem a bit strange after reading a thread like this!


oh, and my vote for stupidest band name? The Funyuns.

sweet cheater is an awesome name for some long island cheesy as hell metal rockin band from 1987

My last band played with this fucking amazing band from West Virginia called Turn Around Norman, which I think is one of the most unfortunate names I've ever heard. I don't even know what kind of band the name Turn Around Norman should belong to, but the name was awful and didn't fit them at all. I don't even think they liked it anymore.

Not a day goes by that I don't see a band name that I think is awful. There are way too many for me to list.

I was in a straightedge band called Permanent Marker. We're starting a new edge band that I'm lobbying to call YOU'RE FUCKING NEXT. I agree that most edge band names are totally awful, though there are a few good ones.

Knew of a band in Denver called Fernl Felic (pronounced Fur-nul Fee-Lick). And another called Askimbo.
Maybe not stupid, but definitely weird.
On the other hand, we have a band called The Mugicians playing 'round these parts.

I like some of their stuff, but I have always hated that name. And any "sentence" band names.

Actually--and this is hard to find on the internet--but they based their name off some old 50s singing & comedy/entertainment quartet originally called "And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Skittles" who later changed their name to "And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Reeses Pieces". All the members of this oddly named 50s group have since died, hence why the rock band aptly named themselves "...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead."

yes, i'm in bands, but i LOVE to do my solo improv techno project. there's no "song", theres no "album", theres no "band". its just me and my machines creating music on the fly to a live audience.

i'm doing a short performance this month and i cant wait.

Steel Pole Bathtub..one of my favorite bands but i remember when i first heard the name it was the same night i saw them play for the first time...i soon realized the name didn't matter at all.


And don't get me started on those horrible psychological metal bands whose names are entire sentences...
