I guess I'm just a geezer from a neighborhood that used to look out for it's own. It's all different now, Not knowing neighbors, sitting on the web.

What scares me the most is ever having to work for one of those mega companies. They don't pay shit and they have shitty benefits that you have to buy. While those of us that make semi-decent cash payout in the form of taxes to cover the mega-companies employees health insurance.

Maybe that's the price trade-off, you cover their insurance, we'll cut the price. Problem is, the manufacturers in China have no benefits, just dorms and 14hr days. No US manufacturing, just sales & service, IF they bother to provide service. The employees in the states (80%) live like paupers, and worse, they tolerate it. Really, where are you going with $60,000/yr. That's barely enough. Check the average pay.

It's not about products manufactured for free by slaves. Those slaves love their jobs, for real. It's about Americans ripping off Americans. That's the deal.

I ain't no Samuel Adams, but Jesus Christ, stop the insanity!

FOr the record...I have a pastrami pedal that is KILLER on ukulele distortion.
cool, I'm glad someone got some use out of them. I personally have yet to figure out what the magic use is for the grilled cheese distortion.

I think there's two arguments going on here-- one is about the quality (both build and sonic) of behringer gear. The other is about their business practices. from the brief conversations I've had with knowledgeable people, the company is well known for ripping off designs and getting sued.

At the very least, they borrow heavily from other people's designs and concepts.

Should that invalidate the use of their products? How much of a role does ethics play in what if I buy a behringer product used? No money is going to the company, right?

I'm just curious as to other people's opinions on this matter.

Huh? I'd live like a king on $60k. I guess if you've got kids...

Or did you mean that for two incomes?

If 60k per annum is 1/2 of a 2-income household no-one should complain. That's a good chunk of change. I know folks with kids who barely make that as a 2-income household, and they get by. That may not be possible everywhere in the country, but it's sure possible.

To add to the above comment, I also feel that when people start ranting about Behringer, the conversation quickly turns to a direct insult toward anyone who consumes Behringer gear.

I don't appreciate anyone telling me I dont know what I'm doing or that I use gear inferior to Hamptone and Neve and Manley. I already know that. I don't know what I'm doing, thank you very much. And I know my Behringer pre is inferior to your Hamptone JFET...no shit sherlock.

So give it toss and get over it and quit insulting my way of existing in the world of making crappy records. I can make crappy records without you telling me I'm making crappy records. And I use my crappy gear with love and creativity. thank you.

Yeah, Wal-mart, China. Costco, China. Target, China. Bearinger, China. Fuck them all! That is what will put our ENTIRE country out of business, not just our beloved gear business.

Who owns Behringer? Who sells the most? GC, Sam Ash?

We need to boycott GC. We need to turn GC into K-Mart, well, really, they are doing it to themselves. The problem is, so many people are suckers and want to keep up with the Jones'. It's a quantity over quality America, even Green Day, with a good concept, "American Idiot", is capitalizing on the idiots. Laughing to the bank.

Note my chosen photo on the left. That's what needs to happen. Fuck them all, but can you pay $25 for a pair of underwear?
In a Nutshell American manufacturing is DEAD, just look at Quantegy if you need a recent example. We are addicted to the cheep imports but look out, as Bush runs the dollar into the ground things will turn around with china, they will call the shots with currency some day very soon...just like the junkie who gets the first round cheap we are going to pay for it. It's not that Neumann is that great, it's just that we can't afford ANYTHING made in europe anymore.

enjoy it while you can and don't be to snooty about those "cheap chinese" products, they won't be cheap for long

Actually the Chinese have been keeping their products artificially low by
keeping their currency low vs. the dollar. They want to keep flooding the
US market with cheap goods. If they raise prices they'll be undercut by
someone else.

Their currency manipulation violates current agreements, but Bush does
nothing because we need the Chinese to buy our bonds in order to maintain
deficit spending.

We've been making between 30G and 60G a year for five years, and have two kids. Nevertheless I own eight guitars and six synthesizers. This is upstate NY, though, and we never go out or take vacations.

This year should be better than that, though. I have an actual job!!!!

Nevertheless, a $25 delay pedal sounds pretty swell to me.

yeah, i'm not sure how $60,000 isn't a decent income, even for two people.
