Polysics: Live shows?
Has anyone seen the japanese band Polysics live? I'm battling whether or not to see them tonight (vs another band I have seen)... Polysics's music is neat, but not my favorite, but I have heard a few people rave about their shows, saying it's quite the experience.
It's only $5... is it an experience not worth missing?

Does anyone else think there should be a seperate board for "talking about music"? "Off The Cuff" doesn't seem to fit, but neither does General Recording.

yea, sorry... off-the-cuff probably would have been better though, we're always talking about albums and shows in there... i guess i just also wanted an answer soon as the show is tonight... hehe. sorry!tyson wrote:Does anyone else think there should be a seperate board for "talking about music"? Re: Polysics: Live shows?
i soundchecked them last week in san diego - i think if you're into their music you should go there - they were pretty great, in that cornelius-ish sort of EXPLOSIONS EXPLOSIONS EXPLOSIONS sort of way. a lot of energy. 2 girls, 2 boys, loud and fast and tight and weird. playing w/crazy backing tracks and stuff. i didn't see their set, cause i work too much on other music, but you should, probably.

We were a possibility of opening for them in San Diego but the club owner couldn't get a hold of us in time. Oh well...I'm curious how they pull some of their shit off live

Wing, I wasn't trying to say that your post was in the wrong place, I was just suggesting that it would be awesome if there was a section on the board just for discussing music like this that isn't related to recording discussions.[/u]

I totally see where you're coming from, Tyson. But maybe everyone should check out the off-topic forum more often. We really have grand old time over there.Does anyone else think there should be a seperate board for "talking about music"? "Off The Cuff" doesn't seem to fit, but neither does General Recording.
And Jonathan, the keyboard player uses a Nord Lead. I'd go just for that reason alone. What's the other possible band to see tonight?

the walkmen... whose music i love, and i really like their last album.XXGABEXX wrote:What's the other possible band to see tonight?
but... the thing that makes it even more complicated, is the fact my brother's band Child Craft is opening up for polysics, and i promised him before the walkmen that i'd go to see him, and it sounded like he was going to start early enough for me to go see him and then the walkmen, but skip polysics. but now i'm considering skipping the walkmen-- i always like experiencing something new.
i just don't want to go and be disappointed and find out all they do is just yell and hit keys for an hour.

Re: Polysics: Live shows?
i can tell you right now this will NOT be the case. I saw them last week and they are incredibly tight, polished and explosive as a live rock band.i just don't want to go and be disappointed and find out all they do is just yell and hit keys for an hour.
I'm not really into their "thing," but my friends were loving it.

Re: Polysics: Live shows?
I hope you saw Polysics! I saw them in Santa Fe over the weekend and they absolutely rocked. They have an unbelievable sense of structure, as in, the loud bits seem even louder and the wacky bits wackier, because it's all set up perfectly.

I think t-bone's got a point, maybe. A band-chat forum, I mean. I dunno. I'll go with the flow. Heh.
