SkyAtNoNoon - I've been a big fan of Sunny Day since the first album, so it's hard for me to say whether fire theft are better or worse... but it's Jeremy, William, and Nate, and then a new guitar player and keyboard player. I just saw them a few nights ago and they were totally amazing. Fire Theft is maybe less raw... maybe more mature songwriting, if that makes any sense. I love them. www.thefiretheft.com. Check them out.

Hey Jason W, did you hear the "Macha Loved Bedhead" cover of Cher's "Believe"? Whoo, boy. It's genius.
And some good groups I've been listening to lately:
Four Tet
Wilco
Flaming Lips
Themselves
Neutral Milk Hotel
rachels
mogwai
Console

Yes, and I adore it... touchtone rock!Hey Jason W, did you hear the "Macha Loved Bedhead" cover of Cher's "Believe"? Whoo, boy. It's genius.
Macha and Bedhead together = joy. My favorite off that CD was "Hey Goodbye". What a beautiful, droning piece of music. When I'm depressed, that CD is usually the soundtrack.
By the way, Bear, you have exquisite taste in music.
Re: The "Name a good band just for the hell of it"
Touchtone rock? Good name. When I realized the phone was the hook, I flipped. And since I'm a fan of both Macha and Bedhead, that group of songs sit really well with me. "Hey Goodbye" is excellent.
Why, thank you. And ditto yourself. I recently picked up American Analog Set's "Know By Heart," and Postman has been the song of the week (aren't they from Houston, or was it Austin?). And "Deserter's Songs" never leaves my CD wallet. It's been there for years. Shins is a recent favorite too.By the way, Bear, you have exquisite taste in music.
I am wangtacular.

Re: The "Name a good band just for the hell of it"
I think they're a Dallas transplant to Austin. From Know By Heart, my fav is "Punk as Fuck". Pretty songs with profane titles are one of my favorite indie rock staples.Bear wrote:aren't they from Houston, or was it Austin?
Someone should start a "best song-title" thread. I would, but I'm not finished with my sandwich. If someone does, may I suggest "why are all the good girls pregnant" to start the thing off? That one belongs to someone from this board, if I'm not mistaken.
