hey RR - can you scan that flyer and post it?

I wonder if my local GC will honor the price.... "your ABQ is selling them for $30 - you mean you won't even match your own chain's price?"

went to my local tonight for some cable, played another exciting game of "thank you for turning a simple transaction into a bizarre ritual"...

And yet I own a pair of the MK012C's and love them. What a useful mic for acoustic guitars. Haven't picked up the omni caps for them yet, but will in the future.

As for the MK219 and MK319 larger diaphragm mics, crap is crap.

Or... people who like to try something different occasionaly could pick some of thse up.

The scenarios are practically endless!

I havent heard the 219's, but i have a pair of 319's and they sound great as overheads on drums and/or using one on a snare...

crap doesn't always equate to crap. it's how you use it.

You should. They're quite nice. Even better are the hypercardioids, if you dig those mics on toms.

In case anyone cares, I owned a 319 for about a week. I thought it a rather boring mic, especially how much I do dig some of Oktava's other offerings. The 319 and 2500 did put me off buying a 219. I'd rather spend $30 on a good meal or something. Much more satisfying, to me at least.

There was a line around the block the night of their grand opening. An hour after they opened the doors it had moved about 20' and I said "fuck it." I went back the next day to see if they had any mics left. The sale was limited to stock on hand and the guy at the pro audio counter told me they only had 30 mics in stock and had approx. 1600 customers that night. He said they sold out of the mics in the first 20 minutes.

I love all of my Oktavas, EXCEPT the 219's.

I use one for talkback, and one for a door stop.

don't know if I'd sell them THAT cheap, though.

in a few years they'll be "vintage" and I can surely get $50 each for 'em, right?

Jeff has a point and so do the people defending its usefullness..it aint the highest quality best sounding thing, true, but that didnt stop everyone from buying the egg mic and loving it..that just one example..Im not saying what I want to use them for..but i can say thats its very funny and very destructive to the mic..when a LDC mic is 30 $ you can affford to abuse it in interestingly varied ways..I will at least try it out on stuff for standard applications..It might do something cool..who knows..
