Hi there - can anyone help me? I am relatively new to tape machines and am in dire need of some advice about a recently acquired Telefnken M15a... Ideally a manual is what I need.. but what I really need to know is the where does the cable that is labelled 'FA' that comes out of the back of the tape machine attach to?
Thanks!
dan
TELEFUNK M15A
Re: TELEFUNK M15A
Do you know what your Telefunken is??..They are not a brand name, they were only distributers. It could be a neuman,an A.K.G. etc. etc. anything really!!
Re: TELEFUNK M15A
well that's news to me!
i have checked the machine and it definitely has a telefunken logo and model number M15a on it. It is (I think?) 1/4" reel to reel and I have found little about them on the net except a BBC nostailgia site that shows them at work! I think they are late 70s/ early 80s machines? Does that help?

Re: TELEFUNK M15A
The M15 line spans from 1/4" 2-track to full-blown 2" 32 track. These are very smooth sounding machines with discrete electronics and are quite rare here in the states. Gotham used to distribute these models. I passed on a 24-track M15 about 8 years ago for $10K, but the thing sounded so incredible I shoulda bought it. I would imagine your machine sounds really nice. Look up a few aging techs in LA because there was a following back in the day...
