Hamptone JFET builders

Post by psychicoctopus » Mon Apr 05, 2004 11:21 am

Other threads reveal the Hamptone JFET preamp's merits. I was looking into building one DIY, but I haven't chosen input / output transformers yet. What did you use?

You mean just buying a parts-list? If you buy the kit everything comes with it, hand-selected and will cost almost the same or less than if you were to get parts on your own. (plus all the time you'll save!)

...plus you get nice solder-masked pcbs, and a drool-worthy case!

I used a beyerdynamic input (1:10) and a jensen output (1:1). I think scott sends the kits out with jensens.

Well, I hope I am not speaking for Scott, but I got just the PCBs and trannys from Hamptone. I didn't want the kit as I wanted to experiment. :D

The trannys are a custom job he has made for him. Definitely not Jensens.

Maybe you can call or email Scott? See what he says.
