party songs: suggestions!
ok guys hey i was wondering if everyone could list some great suggestions of some great party songs.... basically feel good songs. you know on a saturday night when you get in the car and put no some great music that makes you feel great and makes you want to scream! now some of this fun party music could go into fucking music. so if you happen to list some fucking music go for it, as long as it is party and feel good music. also when i mean party... i don't mean house. i mean stuff that makes you feel good and powerful and ready to get funky on the dance floor.

Andrew WK, not really funky, but definitely party.
Isley Bros. 'It's Our Thing' LP, I don't think it's been reissued on CD, but it should be. It's got the hit "It's Your Thing" plus about 8 more songs that sound just like it with varying degrees of badass funkitude, and a couple of soul ballads for the ladies. Half of it sounds like the band is drunk, but in a loose, good way. It was scientifically designed for a party.
"Saturday Night" by the Bay City Rollers
"Stay With Me" by The Faces
Find the cheap "60's Party Rock" CD (that's seriously the title). It's got everything you need from Louie Louie to Woolly Bully, plus since it's a cheap label, half of the songs are strange yet cool sounding alternate versions. The Kingsmen's Louie Louie on there is an alternate take, yet it's close enough to the hit version that you know they knew what they were doing.

Re: party songs: suggestions!
I second Andrew WK. When looking for party music, it's tough to front on a guy who has songs called "It's Time To Party," "Party Hard" and "Party Til You Puke" all on the same record. His song "We Want Fun" from the Jackass soundtrack is also quite choice. Try to stick to the first album, though, it's a bit more party-tastic than his second record.

Le Tigre's first album (eponymous)
Missy Elliot, Under Construction
Nicky Skopelitis, the title is greek, like Elektra or something, produced by Bill Laswell.
Oh, but for sex music I would recommend Pole (no pun intended), unless you're having party sex.

dj kool's let me clear my throat, the live one with biz markie. it is not only a great party song, it is a few great party songs.
anything from DC really. what a great party record town.... anything by trouble funk. if you put on droppin' bombs (greatest hits) you can let the party go on by itself. white people can dance to trouble funk pretty well too, and they have lots of cheers for white people (like "go white people"). if you have a lot of white people at your party that need cheering. trouble funk express, their rip of trans europe express is great. and they have this song about the video arcade which rocks.
chuck brown and the soul searchers first record is a fucking party record as well. bustin' loose, and that song with the chorus where he sings, "shake your tambourine grab and yourself a whistle and blow" then everyone in the band blows a whistle... great stuff.

Prince's Dirty Mind. Could easily do double-duty as party and fucking music. It's not so hard to imagine that he had both in mind while making it. Or maybe always?

J. Geils Band: "Bloodshot"
And I'm not suggesting that because track one is called "It aint nothin but a house party", although that is a rockin party song. And its always cool at a party to break out clear red vinyl!

Why has no one mentioned "Kick Out The Jams"?
"Raw Power" was allways a college party fave, as well as any Ramones album with Dee Dee. And no, I never got in fights...
