Lou Reed's lyrics for Walk on the Wildside. I love that guy.

I always thought the Queens of the Stone Age "Mexicola" line:

Point and shoot, I know just what you mean
In a world that's full of shit and gasoline, baby

was pretty titty-licious.

sooo many, but Bruce comes to mind.....
Thunder Road.. great lyrics, whole song..

Well, I got this guitar and I learned how to make it talk
And my car's out back if you're ready to take that long walk
From your front porch to my front seat
The door's open but the ride ain't free
And I know you're lonely for words that I ain't spoken
But tonight we'll be free, all the promises'll be broken

dang

Let them lift you up in the air,
Let them brush your rock & roll hair.

How about Eddie Money's brilliant opening gambit:

I got a feeling:
It's a feeling.

All of the Moody Blues lyrics from the late 60s and early 70s, they had shakesperian concepts in a very poetic fashion, and were completely different than anything else at the time...............

If you guys want to read some excellent lyrics, I am not a fan of John Hiatts music, but his lyrics are great to just sit and read. The guy is an amazing lyricist, he can say more in a sentance than a lot of songwriters can in a whole song. The guy writes stuff that can best be described as a working mans ecclesiastes.....

I allways liked the Butthole Surfers lyrics on Florida. "Cause all the sausages that dance like Ray Bollinger on the hood of a car in a traffic jam know exactly what to do, stepchild!" Probably more blues than rock and roll though.
