AKG 414 $600?
how did i miss this? everywhere on the net has em for $600 and a few sites have it listed as a "closeout item." anyone know whats up with this as it seems a very popular mic? the $800 was a little steep for my project studio but it now looks like i'll have to start saving up. always looking to upgrade!

I saw that too. I was wondering what was up. I know that there's 2 versions of the 414; i'm just not sure what's the difference.
I'd still like to get one...now where did I put that tax refund check?

I sold a used TL-II about six months ago for that much - looks like I picked the right time.

You are thinking of the C414 B-ULS. This is probably the most common one. Has a transformer in it. Wide range of uses. The other is the C414 B-TL II. Transformless and quite a different beast. The former has always been cheaper and they should now both be going down in price because AKG just released revamped versions of both. There are more than two 414s out there. About 6 or 7 now if I remember correctly.astronaut wrote:how did i miss this? everywhere on the net has em for $600 and a few sites have it listed as a "closeout item." anyone know whats up with this as it seems a very popular mic? the $800 was a little steep for my project studio but it now looks like i'll have to start saving up. always looking to upgrade!
