Messageboard Comp... best songs

Post by trashy » Wed May 19, 2004 9:53 am

Okay, I didn't see anyone else starting this thread and so I did it. The deal (as some know) is that we've been offered five spots on the cd they are giving out at tapeopcon. We can pick five songs from our comp to put on there. Here's the rub: I don't have the comp yet. Lots of us don't. But I think those of you who do have it should list your ten faves and the top five vote-getters will be on the big comp. I'm totally cool with that, and I hope others are too.

I guess this is the place to vote for songs or air your grievances.

I don't think it's going to work in that short of time. Apparently I'm second or third on the list and I don't even have it yet. At best, there will be 2-3 people voting, much like our presidential election. And look what THAT got us.

Just put bobbydj's stuff on it and call it a day.. :D

I think the distribution is a tree, so people high on the list may not get it all at the same time; see what I mean? Like some branches may be more ... "advanced".

I guess I started this thread so we'd have a central place to talk about the feasability of doing this. I don't know how many people have the comp right now; I guess it would be nice to know.

Anyway, I emailed everybody about this thread, so hopefully we'll see what's up.

Well, I'll vote for the Curtain Society song. Lush! (Though everybody's right, only about half of us will have gotten the comp. It's really great, though, I'm totally impressed with everyone's work!)

vote for more than one! vote for like ten....

If half the people have gotten the comp, I'm very cool with them voting for the top five...

Hmm, sounds great, but not having heard the comp yet, it's hard to predict whether there's any way to choose in time.

If there's an online edition, I'd be willing to host a few of the mp3s. I don't have a ton of bandwidth, but I'd imagine if 7 or 8 of us pitched in, we could host the files. I'm kind of an idiot though, so don't feel bad saying so if I am

i'd happily host a bittorrent, but I'm at the end of a distribution tree, and I'm moving this weekend and won't have a broadband connection set up for about a week.

So I guess this was a pointless post, sorry. But hosting a bittorrent would be a good way to share the compilation while spreading the burden of hosting it around.

I can host whatever's needed. I have a 5 gig transfer, I usually don't go over a gig or two...

I'm way down on my "branch" (like 4th or 5th) so I haven't received my copy yet. I'd say, just to have something for the TapeOpCon, someone send Hillary a copy and she can put on what she wants. I'm not too concerned over who gets on there, just as long as someone gets on there. It would be a shame to not use those 5 open spots on the CD.

Do what thou wilst.

Nope, I don't. But someone can upload them onto my server, via FTP.

I don't know who I am, where I am nor what kind of tree I was left under. But I'm impressed that this is a sticky. 8)
