How do you chain a compressor on a pre with no insert?

Post by Leopold » Thu May 08, 2003 5:57 pm

What would be the signal path for using a preamp and and a compressor and then going to tape?
I just got a Sytek and it has no inserts so how woud I go about doing this? Is it mic->pre in--pre out->comp in--comp out->tape?

Thanks,
Eddie

Yup.

Mic into pre, pre into comp and comp into tape. Really that is the only thing that an insert does one a stand alone mic preamp anyway. Just mind those balanced and unbalanced connections and make sure to plug everyone into the same power source.
