Looking for Someone.

Post by bobdemaa » Tue Jun 29, 2004 2:13 pm

I'm in the midst of doing some research, and am trying to find an engineer by the name Jim Cypherd. if it's the same guy, he's worked on the Fog, The Sparks, and the Abecedarians. I lose reference of him after the mid 90's when he was quoted in an add for an MTU Synchronizer out of a facility in beverly Hills called Virtual Sound Productions.

Anyone heard of him, know him etc?

Thank you.

Sorry, I don't know him, but he did the 'Resin' lp by Abecedarians. Quite cool.
Have you Googled? quite a few things come up...

I don't know him but I one of the guys in the Fog (Mike Lewis) - they recorded that album in Minneapolis I believe - might want to just call the studio thats credited on the album.

Yes, The Resin LP Is really one of my all time favorite sounding recordings. Don't know why really, it's one of those things that has nothing to do with the left Brain.

I have Googled it. Which is where I saw him endorse the MTU Synchronizer in 95. Everything esle is just credits for various mixing he's done for bands and films.

I'm trying to find out what equipment they used in the recording of that record. The only Information states Recorded at Sound Arts Recording Studio in LA California. July of 87. No such studio exists any longer, at least that i can find. t's like all these guys are ghosts. just disappeared in the 90's.

The Fog is actually a movie that came out in 1980. Featuring a score by Jon Carpenter. Jim Cypherd did some music mixing on it. :)

Thanks for your help!

Man, I'd love to find that out too - and for the Eureka EP and Smiling Monarchs/Benway's Carnival 12" (one of my all time favorite singles!)

I'll keep you posted.

Jeff Robinson was at that Studio. Maybe he can give us a little insight as to the kind of equipment they had?
