Yamaha MC2404 - discrete pres?

Post by xSALx » Sat Jul 03, 2004 4:45 pm

I'm interested in getting a MC2404 that my friend is selling. I heard some of the old yamaha boards have discrete channels. Like the PM-1000. But I don't know I could be wrong. I think the board was made in 82'. My buddy wants $400 for the board. I think its pretty good considering its not a bad board, and I think its probably better than a mackie or behringer. But the only problem is that it's kind of a bitch on the routing options aspect. What do you guys think?

I don't know this board, but apparently you can switch the 4 sends to either pre or post.

Check this thread.

Each channel and the four buses also appear to have inserts.

http://www2.yamaha.co.jp/manual/english/download2.php
Yamaha Manual Library (English)

Download the manual and find out. If I was a betting man I'd say no, but I've been wrong before. Is that the black one where the channels are in groups of four? Every one of those I've used hissed like an alley cat.

FWIW, the 2404II (grey) is a thin sounding, no headroom POS.

It's the black one.
