Velvet Lamp Studio

Named after the god awful ugly Green Velvet Lamp that adorns the corner.

Bastard Sound.

That's the name I gave to my bedroom recording thing years ago. I've since learned that the band 'man is the bastard' have an offshoot band call 'bastard noise.' So, um, I challenge those guys to a fist fight.

Parlor Studios

This studio began in my 1865 pre-victorian home in the room that once was called the parlor.

Oxide Lounge Recording

I only had analogue tape when I opened and it's still my choice (getting my new 2" machine tomorrow!).

SanCastle Mastering

My 'project mastering' room is at my house. I named it because my last name is SanFilippo and every man's home is his Castle.

My first home studio in high school was called The Embassy named after the trailer that guy Richard McLaren from the Republic of Texas militia group lived in. He declared the trailer a sovereign nation and no one cared, so he took hostages and got his ass beat by the FBI.

Then i moved off to college and had The Consulate at my first apartment, followed by Dull Day Studios at my next apartment (named after our phone number DUL-LDAY) and the Castle Greyskull at yet another apartment (Greystone was the street name, so it seemed appropriate) and then Shh! at the house i moved into.

Now I'm in a new house with a new wife and i can't decide if i want to keep the Shh! name or not.

GLEA = God's Little Ear Acre.... it's a a joke on the obvious, and a prank my pal, the late Sean Donahue pulled once when we were working at KSAN in the 70's. He took an for the band Earthquake, from Billboard, and cut out the letters and pasted them back in to say "EarAche". Matthew Kuafman saw it (owner of Berserkley Records), and rather than get pissed, just took it and ran it the next week in Billboard... full page.

I get calls for Mr Glea (pronounced Gleeuh)...
