help! - 2408 mk 1 adat bit depths?????

Post by edwhite » Sat Jul 17, 2004 12:05 pm

:D hello all - i have a 24I/O core mk 3 and i am getting a 2408 of some sort to connect to my luvverly new sony dmx r-100. i am looking fora used 2408 - i dont need 96khz as the desk does not support it through adat boards. i dont even need the mk2's 24 bit analogues as i have a 24I/O. however i DO need a full 24 bit adat connection from the 2408. Does the origional 2408 mk1 operate its digital ins and outs at 24 bits or20 bits like its analogue io's?

plese help as ive got a great deal on a mk-1 if it works out.

also the desk will be clocking off an external sync and then will send sync down the lightpipe to the 2408. do the later 2408's have better clocking ability via lightpipe? (not bothered about wclock bnc.

does all this sound ok? anyone else have the same setup?

cheers

It works. I have a 2408 mk1. I'm connecting my behringer ada-8000 through lightpipe at 24/44.1.

I do have a bnc for word clock with the 2408 as the master though.. I haven't tried using the adat for sync.

Yes. Only the built in converters are 20 bit
