wanna help BETA test my new website??

Post by pedrohead » Sun Jul 18, 2004 5:31 pm

hey there,
well i still have my crappy angelfire.com home (please excuse the ads), but i traded some studio time with a client in exchange for a website.

i'm trying to make sure it works ok on different platforms/screen resolutions/etc.

if you could take a second and look at it and let me know what you think, that'd be great. thanks again.

The ads seem to be in a sort of strange position in that they semi-interfere with your text window. when I first opened it the text was covered up. the 3rd time just the ad titles were visible. Eqip window is blank. Mac OS 9.2/explorer

You're rates are so bloody low, it might be worth a trip to Detroit... Here in DC, $40 an hour is about as low as you're gunna get. Guess there's a lot o' competition in rock town, usa... DC isn't exactly known as a musical mecca :?

thanks for the comments folks, i haven't seen those problems here yet, so i'll pass them along. but i guess the ad things are going to be a bit of a problem till i move the site out to my own purchased webspace.

yeah the rates are pretty low (especially for the d-town area), but i work with mostly younger bands (check out some of the samples in the 'clients' area) who don't have a ton of cash, and i was in the same position as them paying $50 an hour for horrible ADAT recordings before my old band got signed, so i empathise with them.

plus, this is only my weekend/some weeknights job, it isn't what's putting food on the table. so i don't have to charge so much just to keep up the overhead.

thanks for the comments guys, please let me know if it seems to be 'working fine' for you as well, not just if there's problems.

Your site seems to be functioning well, but I do think one mild tweak would make it more effective. I'm using Safari on Mac Osx at 1024x768 screen resolution, and the frame which the site is contained in seems a little small. I wish it were all larger, so I would be able to see everything better. I haven't used flash in a long time, so I can't remember how easy it is to scale everything up, but it seams like it would be worth it. I would try increasing the size of the flash window by 50-100 pixels, both vertically and horizontally.

Other than that, it looks pretty good to me!

No problems here. Viewed on IE6 and Mozilla 1.6 Win2k.

I viewed it with IE6 XP. I use a 1280X1024 screen resolution and your page just covers 1/4 of the screen. Also it appears you have no equipment in your studio ;-)

I got all the pages, but yeah, it's really small, about a third of the page. Also, might be worth saying whether the rates are rounded up or down to the nearest hour, but that's perhaps a really small point. Otherwise nice, and i'm a fan of fades too.
The large print giveth, and the small print taketh away.
