Mastering at +5.....

OK, I admit it, I like the Starbucks compilation CD's. The new sets, call "Playlists" are also pretty cool. Well, the last one I got, I swear is mastered at +5. I'm totally unable to even play the damn thing on my system cuz it runs peaked the entire time. Who the hell would master something at this level? It totally wrecks the whole CD. If anybody knows the guy, ask him...what were ya thinkin man??

The cool thing about way too much compression and mastering at stupid volumes is that it really, really hurts your ears in headphones.

problem with this disc is that its printed so hot, that you cant even turn up the volume cuz it maxes the system immediately and goes pppffffhhhttt!

3. type "+30"
4. hit enter

that should do it.

This is how I figured out my band's CD was being compressed to death. I put on the headphones for a relaxing bedtime listen, and had to pull 'em off my head after a couple of songs... no joy... no lulling me into sleepy-time... in fact, more awake and agitated than before... What the f$#k is going on here?!? Have people lost their minds?!? Imagine if everywhere you looked, every image or film or magazine photo you saw was saturated to the point of posterization. The absurdity would be starkly obvious...
