Any Spring reverb addicts out there?

Post by Al » Mon Jul 14, 2003 7:14 pm

If any one out there is keen on spring reverb,or a sucker for retro gear Check out the HDB audio valve spring reverb!.

This is a great unit for the money, hand built as well "made in Germany",beautiful rich tube soaked reverb, you can also use this piece of kit direct with an instrument, because it has a built in valve pre, fantastic on bass, pure vintage tone, also on keys "to warm up those digi samples" or anything else you want to throw at it!.

Accutronics three spring tank inside.

It also has a cool sixties magic eye to show input " blinking horizontal green light",this is done by using an old 20-30 year old Telefunken valve... which is well cool, nice touch!!!. The style has been kept to all the original sixties style spec!. Around 350 dollars i would reckon?,as i'm in g.b.p.
If this is anybodys kinda thang, check them out!.

Definitely intriguing since I've been considering a Spring or Plate for the studio anyway. Have you got a website? manufacturer name? exact model name? Thanks for the tip.

I got a realtube spring reverb about ten years ago. Sounded o.k. for guitar, pretty lousy for most other things. Traded it a couple of years ago.

stillafool,PLEASE read my post, i started this thread for people who are interested in spring reverb,NOT for people who had one and decided they didnt like it!

I suppose you sold it off for a piece of digital nonsense eh? " all these folk who rant on about the Yamaha spx series" a pile of fukin shite!!!!!!

I banish all these digital units up satans arse where they rightfully belong!

Anyway...for more info on the "HDB Audio TSR-3",look up the website, It's Vermona/HDB audio. Like i said,if this kind of thing is your bag, then your going to love this..

And also just to add,i'm a big fan of the A.K.G. plate reverb, which ive used many times as my friend has one in his studio, and this reverb unit isnt a million miles away from the sound of this on geetarz n vox etc.!.

Yeah just checked it out and I like the look of it.I've got a roland space echo re201 which has a spring reverb but obviously isn't a tube model. How do they differ in sound?I like the fact I can rack it also. How much is it in ?'s,I didn't notice a price.

mrdazobee, Yeah the valves make a big difference, warm and lush sounding reverb, and of course because there's a valve pre amp,you can plug in a bass or keys or whatever, vintage stylie sound!....very nice. About 258 quid. Which isnt bad for a hand made bit of kit

I love my peavey valve-verb. It's an 80's piece ( I think). TUBES. reglar ol' unbalanced in's and out's, It hums a bit too much, but that never stops ME from using it. It's got a pre and post volume control (DRIVE!!), bass, mid and treble controls, and TREMELO!! It's designed to be a rack mount guitar FX unit, but it's fine fer my prauxfessional setup. Much creamier sounding than the furman I used for a long time, but I loved the furman, too.
doesn't anyone else have a peavey valve-verb?? I bought mine out of the paper here in austin for a hundred bucks, but I think they usually go for a bit more.

mrdazobee,i looked at the Analogue solutions website, but they didnt appear to have much HDB Audio stuff. Sorry for being nosey but,how much did they charge you for it?...

Let me know your thoughts when you get it,i'm considering one of their mic pres as well now because i'm so impressed with them.

I'm loving playing my bass through the Valve pre in the HDB reverb,it's very nice indeed!
