DVU-

How would you have Fletcher talk shop without mentioning his gear?

"Well, I used a mic through a mic pre and wasn't too happy with the results, but then I swapped the mic pre for a mic pre and voila!"

I'm not going to buy a Royer and an RNP based on his description of the results, either. In fact, I'm not buying anything on ANYONE's recommendation but my own.

Cool yer package - let's keep this board a fun place to be.

If everyone doesn't stop fighting, I will take off all my clothes and run around naked on this board.

With Doc Landy in hot pursuit whielding an electric cattle prod. That's kind of the image I'm getting here. Bri is maybe 240 lbs and jiggling like crazy. I dunno. I'm riffing now.

I've got the RNP its the nicest piece of gear I own. It has improved my signal chain one thousand percent and I ONLY paid $500.

You must own some really horrible gear. Are you talking about a soundcard's mic pre? Taking into consideration that a mackie 24 by 8 can be had for $2,000, "only" $500 for just a mic pre of this quality or lack thereof is a total rip off. That works out to less than $100 per channel, not JUST for a mic pre.

"You must own some really horrible gear."

why on earth did you resurect this post just to add that?

not eveyone has the money tree you do to go buy the "bad ass" gear you have.

man my ears must be total shit, because i have a lot of nice pre's and my RNP actually gets used. not to mention that the gentleman who builds these things is a really stand up guy.

if only i had your golden ears then i would finally understand what sounds good...

In my book, you're off to a great start right there. Those are the best mic pres I've heard for less than $200 per channel.

seems like most of the posts here are pro RNP, so I would think d.j.v.u.
is just wrong, sorry. but you may be on to somthing with the mackie
pre's at least if you are talking about the new ones the old one sound
pretty dead, but I put an api up with it in a blind test and was kind of
shocked when I heard how well it held its own. just don't use the e.q.'s
or the mix bus if you are trying to get the big and open sound we all
lust after.

I agree with the assessment that the RNP isn't worth the money. They are good, but not great. If the RNC was $500 and the RNP was $200, that would make sence. The Sytek's blow the RNP away, and are much cheaper. I also expected some kind of miricle when I chained them into an RNC. To each his/her own I suppose.

Does anyone know if there are funk logic cases for the RNP yet?
