Hey Johnny 7 I like that. Hey Wing, He is very difficult to deal with. I was the Original drummer with the Uniques and he used to get on me for sweating too much on stage. He said it didn't look professional. I tried to blow it off but after enough of the aggravation I started telling him to stop using a music stand on stage and learn the songs. Then he went on about how many pro bands use music stands. I got tired of his badgering about my "unprofessional" sweating and quit. After that they had a bunch of drummers but none wanted to stay in the group.

You know, I don't know you or this guy, but he sounds like a total putz.

hey cgarges, He's a great bass player when sober but he's just.........It was .........I'd rather go to a 90 year old dentist with parkensins than put up with his badgering me about sweating and waiting on stage between songs so he can flip through his sheet music.

No shit.

I have a gig with Mitch Easter on Saturday. I am a nervous wreck about it. I will indeed have some cheat sheets with me on stage but I will not be pestering Mitch about how much he sweats.

That's just stupid.

I have nothing against cheat sheets, I've used them on spot jobs. But if someone's constantly nit picking over my sweating he better have his stuff togeather.

the idea that all professional bands use music stands on stage, where did he get that from? i mean, orchestras, yeah, but rock bands? not so much...

You don't COPYRIGHT a band name, you TRADEMARK it.
You can do this either in the state or pay lots more and do it nationally.
It can still cost a lot to do at the state level.

If this guy is saying he "copyright"ed the name, it's fairly obvious that he's clueless. Call his bluff. If he lays down the cash to get a lawyer going (sounds like you know him, does he have the bank and is he enough of a dick to go that far?) then f him. Change your name and advertise for the next 3 months as The NEWNAMES formerly known as the Uniques.
After 3 months of gigs, and some stickers and flyers at shows, people will get the idea you have a new name. Then you can tell the bass player to take his name and shove it up his arse.

Sorry - stuff like this drives me crazy. I've dealt with no-talent aholes who've tried lame stuff like this and it's nothing but a pain.

Thanks for the replies. I think he just has a huge ego, and it's been hurt because he didn't think the band could survive without him.
