Dano Hodad repair?

Post by SLiM BiLT » Fri Oct 22, 2004 10:57 am

I really need some help from the guitar tech types. I broke the stem off the p/u selector switch on my Hodad and tried to replace it. I got a replacement three-way switch from Allparts and dropped it in. I soldered everything back exactly the way it was BUT the middle position (e.g. both p/u's on) does not work (no output). It seems OK for the bridge or neck p/u, but not both together.

Any ideas why that would happen? What info could I supply that might help in making a diagnosis? (If you've seen the wiring for a Hodad, well, it's way too tricky for my skills.)

Thanks for any help.

(Side note: I heard from Allparts that official replacement parts for the new Danelectros are rapidly disappearing. Allparts stocks them but I was told they have almost run out and have no idea if anymore will be available.)

Are you absolutely sure?

A three-way switch is a three-way switch is a three-way switch. Any one should do.

unless it's the wrong kind of switch.

Some three way switches are "center off"
