The Two I'm the most stuck on at the moment are "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" from Wilco and "Hail the thief" from Radiohead. Those two don't seem to want to leave my CD player.
I am wangtacular.

Nina Nastisia's "The Blackened Air." Haven't gotten her new one yet. Albini-engineered.
Also The Bad Plus' new album, courtesy of Tchad Blake.
Both are live, off the floor records without overdubs. (At least I think the Nina Nastasia album is. I know the Bad Plus album was done that way.)

Serge Gainsbourg: Historie de Melody Nelson: Man, a friend of mine just turned me on to thei record, and I'm obsessed with it! From 1971, it's a 28 minute concept album about Serge having an affair with a young girl who is later killed in an accident, at least that's how my wife has translated the lyrics. What's so cool is just how amazing it sounds. It starts with an ultra cool funky picked bass line, drums so close miced they sound like they're inside your head, and fuzzy acid guitar, totally dry but mixed way in the background. Then Serge's voice enters, sounding like a french (and sexier) Leonard Cohen, kind of speaking kind of singing. After a long while, glorious, rich strings come in, huge lush and ambient against the ultra dry rhythm tracks. It's this amazing mix of low key funk and Frech pop, and it still sounds completely fresh. I probably listen to this 3-4 times a day, every day lately.

Lately,
I've been enjoying the new Fall anthology 'Totally Wired' from the Rough Trade years. Mark E. Smith at his cynical best --- raw performances all around, and really some of their best work, in my opinion.
Another album I picked up at Aquarius in San Francisco entitled 'Pharaoh Overlord #2'. Finnish stoner rock at it's very, very finest. Another great album from the bassist/ringleader of the amazing Circle, Jussi Lehtisalo. Right now this also would be my 'favourite bass part recorded' vote in that thread...
Honorable mentions go to OreWaKonnaMonJanai's 'Epitonic' (they're a japanese band, if you hadn't guessed), and Massive Attack's latest.... full sounding, and nicely composed.

I've been listening to Rollerball's "Superstructure" album. There an Australian band who rock quite tremendously with a 70's kind of vibe.
Grand Funk's "Red album" vinyl. No 70's vibe here just the real deal.
Nuff said.

just mentioned this in the fave guitar part thread: Kaki King - utterly amazing record. also the new Radiohead, old Black Sabbath, The Clash's London Calling, Television's Marquee Moon, Will Ackerman's anthology, Jurassic 5's latest, etc.
