New AEA ribbon mic - R92

Post by Meriphew » Fri Nov 12, 2004 7:44 am

I just saw this over at Lynn Fuston's site - 3DAudio ( http://www.3daudioinc.com/cgi-bin/ultim ... 1&t=000976 ).
It's a new AEA ribbon mic made mainly for guitar amps. The R92 (the one on the right).

Looks cool. I've used my R84's on guitar and always liked what I got back. Sometimes I like it even more than a R121. It just depends on the guitarist. I wonder what this new mic sounds like against the R84?

From what I've read it was designed mainly with guitar amps in mind.

I have a gut feeling that it will work well on a number of sources other than just elect guit.

If it is as good as the R84, I am in! I think it has a lot less proximity effect than the R84, but I could be wrong.
I know enough to know that I don't know what I am doing.
