What Mr. Hunter said. You should listen to him, he's a doctor.
Music Stores entice you with the "no payment for 90 days" shit, then turn around and charge the highest interest, which you'll still be paying off long after you've gotten rid of the thing that enticed you in the first place.

You certainly have to be careful with the credit cards. That being said, I often use the "12 months same as cash" deals. The thing is, of course, you have to pay it before the 12 months pass, or you get screwed. I've been good about it, so have not suffered the nasty interest that builds up the whole time.

Credit can be an excellent way to go if you use the "same as cash" offers that both Musicians friend and Sweetwater have right now, it's how I've been able to build a decent sounding studio since I am bad at saving money unless I jnow I HAVE to to pay it off in time.
Don't be scared, just be responsible with your cash.

Most places will not charge interest if paid off in 6 months. You will just be eating at your parents place more often. I would say don't do it. Especially if it is going to be on some digital box that will be worthless in a couple of years. If you are buying something that will hold it's value like a John Hardy mic pre or something of the like, then maybe you could justify it. Just save some cash for a down payment. Interest will be less or save up and scour ebay.
I know enough to know that I don't know what I am doing.

i know from personal experience with the sam ash card, you sometimes get up to a year with no interest, but enter into that 13th month and you're really in for it!
see, they charge you 'compound interest'.... basically if you haven't paid the card off IN FULL by the day before your interest charges start, you will receive a bill with ALL of the back interest for the supposed "free" year! so it's only interest free if you pay it off in full by the day before the deal ends.

Yeah I can pay it off over the course of a year no problem. I know how to manage my money. I want a nice mic pre amp and I want to spend like 1000-2000 dollars.
I have to buy a new car soon and finish financing my new album so I need alternate ways to get gear.
Sam ash looks like the best online store right now.

I'm genuinely curious, since I did not know that Sam Ash sold high-quality preamps.
