Arrangement analysis idea I'm working on...

Post by phait » Thu Nov 25, 2004 11:07 am

Sometime over a year ago I thought of this idea, some thought it was a good start but that there were better ways of interpreting a song. Well, I got around to starting my version... it's a little for fun and to see what I might learn. I'm working on "Just Like You Imagined" by Nine Inch Nails... those of you who're familiar with NIN probably know the music is often dense, but so far it hasn't been too much difficulty. I just setup a guide in Photoshop and am creating it all in there.

It would be cool if this was made into a program or at least done in Flash and able to export an image.

This is in progress...., the song is 04:36

Looks an awful lot like a DAW screen, huh?

To be honest, I sometimes draw out what I'm thinking a track will look like in the DAW before I implement it. My handwritten version is truly a sight to be seen.

You draw it out beforehand....? So... do you record pre-written parts and then arrange them, or arrange them as you go? Interesting...
