Phantom Power!

Post by Kyle » Thu Jul 31, 2003 8:06 am

Hello Team

I have some outboard pre-amps that I have racked up and I am in the market to get a stand alone phantom power supply.

Here is my question. Is there a difference in phantom power providers?
If I get a cheap supply, will it effect the performance of my mic?

Thanks
Kyle

Phantom power supplies range from 11v to I think 55 or 56v but the most common one used seems to be 48v. I assume that the cheaper power supplies wouldnt have as much sheilding from the 60 cycle hum or something like that. Like everything else in the studio, the better the equipment, the cleaner the signal, but shop around.
