I know that in all likelihood this thing is going to suck, but how damn cool is this?!

If it's as cool as it could be, then it's incredibly cool. Otherwise it could be as shit as we fear it could be.
The large print giveth, and the small print taketh away.

Very cool. but not really a new idea; DJ's have been using these things forever to make dubplates and such (personalized scratch records, quick release of the new dance mix...).

The interesting thing is the "new" blank material that's supposed to wear 90% as well as regular records? Regular acetate dubplates are only supposed to last 30 or 40 plays.

Note though that the cutting head has a 200 to 300 minute lifetime.
That's not really very long before you're buying a new cutting head.

The Vestax gives a real world 60Hz-12kHz response and can only give pretty quiet levels. i.e. a pricy toy that won't give you any thump.

If you're going to spend the cash expecting to actually want to play the dub plates you cut the Vinylium dubplate cutter is a much better choice - http://www.vinylium.ch/dubcut/dubcutter.html
