Just got his acoustic demos CD, so he's on my mind...

Also my name is, honest to God, John Lennon. So he's on my mind anyway.

He was the best in my book.
I'm still inspired by his songs and his amazing voice.

I have to say, 24 years later, and it still makes me cry. I was aware of what day it was, but for some reason when I saw your post I started crying.

How are the acoustic demos?

My brother's birth name is John Lennon also (born 1953).
It was a tough name for a teenager to have in the 60s.
It's nice to be nice to the nice.

i remember that. i still have the newspapers that day with him autographing for MDC. i thought it was great that all this beatles stuff was on the radio when i woke up and then more on tv! we recorded all the stuff with a cassette recorder i remember. i was shocked i had to go to school! 10 years old and in 4th grade...got all the fanzines that came out in the wake of it all...

life moves on. ever notice the beatles are dropping in order of coolness?

dennis leary has done more lame movies than john lovitz but he's still pretty funny. i like don rickles type stuff...

"ever notice the beatles are dropping in order of coolness?"

maybe so, but that's 40 years later. practically 2 generations. not bad.
the coolness might be dropping, but i think that it's due to saturation (less)and strict programming on radio stations. younger people don't get the opportunity to hear them as often.
mind you, it's easy to hip a younger person or musician to them within about 20 minutes.
the same might go for many other composers.
i work them into almost all of my classes somehow.

He's saying that Lennon was the coolest, and died first. Then George, then...

If that were true, Paul would be the last to go, the devil's saving him in case he corrupts the world again with another frog chorus or ebony and ivory. Surely the cause of much violence those tunes. He's such a fucker.

I was really stunned when George died, somehow people like that aren't supposed to die, really odd. Felt the same when John Peel went.

Hey, I'm a huge Beatles fan, but to slam Paul is crazy. His songs were the one's that made them popular. I do love Lennon's songs, but you don't ever catch yourself whistling I am the Walrus, if you know what I mean. Sure Paul can be a little sugary, but didn't he write Helter Skelter?
And please, don't start on any Ringo bashing either. He was the perfect drummer for the band, just as they all were perfect for the band. As for the Ebony and Ivory....Paul's no worse than any other aging rock star....Sting, Phil Collins, etc.....
