That's devotion. Last time I saw them I stood across Burnside while they played the Roseland. Great show.SaneMan wrote:Holy shit, I forgot about Sonic Youth. That was a great album. Got to see their live debut of the album at the Troubadour too. Only had to wait in line about 9 hours for tickets. It kicked ass.

I think it is one of the better Constellation releases of the last few years. The first song is tough, but the rest are fresh and great

I can't say I have heard much of anything in the past few years that really knocked my sox off. It is all pretty much commercial anymore, and contrived and formatted. I heard J J Cale has a new Cd that came out late last year, I have not heard it but I bet it is pretty good.

They are:
Isis - "Panopticon" (Why has no-one mentioned this yet?)
Battles - "B EP" (Surely this is the supergroup of 2004)
The Icarus Line - "Penance Soiree" (I keep raving about this and no-one seems to listen...)
The Secret Machines - "Now Here Is Nowhere" (Now that is what a kick drum sounds like...ahhh)
P. J. Harvey - "Uh Huh Her" (Dammit I love this woman)
Cheers,
bdp

Still turn to these few from 04 with good vibe and a touch of specialness:
Mavis Staples - Have A Little Faith
John Lee Hooker - Face To Face
Mark Knopfler - Shangri La
JJ Cale - To Tulsa And Back
John Fogerty - Deja Vu
Etta James - Lets Roll
Loretta Lynn - Van Leer Rose
Ollabelle (with Amy Helm)
and maybe Tom Waits Real Gone

David
