M-Audio C-03 format converter?

Post by Dyno » Sun Dec 19, 2004 2:57 pm

Has anyone used the M-Audio C-03 format converter?
I need an inexpensive way to go from AES to Adat lightpipe (toslink)

This looks like the ticket for 150 bucks.

Thanks,
dyno

It's wonderful (Specifically TOSlink - ADAT is different).

Keep in mind that if you get a much less expensive AES-S/PDIF converter, the C02 will get you there much cheaper.

However, I still find it handy to have a C03 or two around...

Yeah, I haven't used the C-03, but what John said, about the toslink and ligthpipe being different, is right! I found out because I'm trying to find a Adat lightpipe splitter and thought the Hosa 0Y-314 would work, the optical toslink and the lightpipe is not compatiable!......Bummer!  Bad,Bad, Hosa 0Y-314.....

OK I'm confused...

I thought ADAT optical and Toslink were the same thing.

This is what I want to do:

Cranesong HEDD/192 AES out > M-Audio C-03 > ADAT optical in Mackie HDR24/96

Thanks,
Dyno

ADAT is 8 channels - Standard TOSlink is a stereo signal.

Hey John..I had a qestion..I think last week about a 110 Ohm AES/EBU to 75Ohm S/PDIF conversion..do you know if these boxes would work for that..As I understand it I need that impedance conversion and a protocol conversion to make these two types transfer at the best quality..what do you think?

Thanks guys...I ended up ordering an Alesis AI-4 to do the conversion task.
