Converting DVD audio to CD audio
Happy Christmas everyone. Just bought my other half the Bjork Medulla disc with the making of the record and we'd like to be able to burn a copy of the album to listen to on regular CD players. I opened up the files of the DVD and the audio section uses LFO and BUP files which i've not heard of, and it won't burn straight to CD. Anyone know how i can convert these into files that will play on regular CD players?

Re: Converting DVD audio to CD audio
I'm not sure of the structure of dvd-a discs - take a look over at the VideoHelp forums, do a quick search, I think this has been asked (if not answered) over there.
aside from .ifo and .bup files, are there any .vob files? can you post a directory tree of the file structure?
I think my tenant has this disc - I'll see if I can borrow it and check it out.

Re: Converting DVD audio to CD audio
You would have to find a DeMuxing (DeMultiplexing) program to convert those back to usable audio files for DAWs and whatnot. What you would end up with might either be a PCM, DTS, or AC3 file. However, if this is a DVD-A disc, I do not know of any tool to demux it. If it is DVD-Video then you should have no problem. The cheap/free programs demux the audio a lot better than they do the video.
You could run SPDIF out from your DVD player into your comp/interface, but most likely copy protection would inhibit that. Perhaps you will have to submit to the cassette days and re-record it in real-time.
Good luck.

Re: Converting DVD audio to CD audio
how in a hurry are you?
I've got the disc, I haven't had a chance to check it out, and won't until later tonight (Sunday night). If you're not in a screaming hurry, let me see if I can get you a direct solution.

Not to be "the man" here, but the DVD audio is also encrypted and by cracking it you'll be breaking the Digital Millineum Copyright Act.
Even talking about it here is probably illegal.
You could always record the analog outs of the player and burn that.

I may be wrong here, but i'm pretty sure UK law states that copying is only illegal if you sell the copies.rimbaud234 wrote:Not to be "the man" here, but the DVD audio is also encrypted and by cracking it you'll be breaking the Digital Millineum Copyright Act.
