i moved into this house and the lving room is aewsome! the ceiling at its peak is like 25 feet high and angles down to about 15. hard wood floors. its so amazing how much a room can affect a recording. its got awesome echo! my drums sound huge in there! imloving it.....

Girlfriend and I always talk about when we win the lottery and build a house out in the woods on Orcas island. So far its going to have a recording studio, ceramics studio, petting zoo, and a green house. Even though i don't eat animals.. i think it would be rad to have some chickens, minature goats, sheep and stuff.

I just moved into a new house with my bandmates, one of them bought the place. I've been doing weekend and afterhours construction in the basement for the 2 months. Rehearsal room and studio. Unfortunately the ceilings down here are only 7 1/2 feet so i'm going to have to fool around with treatment and different micing techniques than i'm used to. I feel though, with enough time and experimentation, a good sound could be had. today i added a second coat of paint on a wall, build some rack units/furniture.. waiting for the electric sander to recharge cause i'm lazy like that. Fun stuff though! i've spent more money at Home Despot the past couple months than i planned and still don't have all the gear related stuff i need.. cableing and such.. adds up. Its definitely going to be better than my last place though..

Heres some old pics of my basement studio :







I record in this one and the concrete hall next to it..(no pics)
there is a little bit of flutter echo and the cieling is not the highest
but the woody room has a cool tone..all the pine panels are tongue and groove, floated 1" off the concrete wall which helps make it interesting and lively..its about 2563 sq feet..no acoustic treatment so far but im going to be installing some movable absorbtion soon..

I would love to record in my living room.
It has wood floors, huge vaulted ceilings and the best reverb I've ever heard.
Whenever we move furniture I sit there clapping like a moron with tears of joy in my eyes.
My girlfriend wouldn't go for it and the cat would probably need therapy.

I record in the lounge too, but i only take up about a third of the room with stuff that's kind of permanent, we try to keep a fair bit of floor space free so it doesn't get too much in here, and there's plenty of room for tracking. It's a busy room, my main recording room, where my girlfriend builds software when she's not in the office, storage for about half of my records and it has all the usual lounge furniture so we can relax, have people over etc. I'm lusting after a double garage i can record in when we buy a place, but that'll be a while.
