Sitar lessons in PORTLAND?

Post by Bitchfork » Mon Dec 27, 2004 2:08 pm

does anyone know where i could take some lessons for the Sitar?
i live in North Portland, Oregon.
i'm looking to start playing and take some lessons before taking the plunge and buying a sitar of my own.
any leads?

also, anybody know anything about those travel sitars that are 23" scale?
i thought that might be a more affordable and feasible starter instrument......

Try Artichoke music on Hawthorne, they specialize in acoustic instruments www.artichokemusic.com. I just looked and they have a guy named Rik Masterson who teaches sitar. Ya gotta love the internet. I'm in NoPo too btw.
my band: Mission 5

Yeah -- artichoke. You have to kind of hate that place, though. That peanut who owns it needs to get a guitar shoved up his ass.
