Repair Advice

Post by GLEA » Mon Jan 03, 2005 10:25 am

Before I put my funky Roland SDE3000 on e-bay as a parts unit, I thought I'd ask if anyone knows a good tech who might be able to make this delay work all the time.

It will run for an hour or two, and then the LEDs all go off and it won't pass a signal. I've had the local tech look at it, but he didn't have any luck. No surprise as everything you take to him has to go back a second time, and then maybe if you are lucky it'll work.

I didn't pay much for it, so I don't mind shipping it off to get fixed...

Ideas? leads? :?:

thanks for the advice. I'll follow up straight away...

I was just about to grab the digi cam and get the delay up on e-bay. I'll wait on that for the moment.

I have a couple SDE1000's that I use as my main guit delays. Love 'em. You should also post this question here > http://recforums.prosoundweb.com/index.php/f/30/0 - as there's alot of tech heads there who focus on fixing/modding pro audio gear. If I were you I'd keep it and get it fixed as it's a great delay (when working of course). Best of luck.

The SDE3000 runs REAL hot. I would say the power supply is turning itself off when it heats up. Your tech might not have been able to fault it as he might have had the lid off, so it did not heat up as much.

It's worth getting it fixed, useful unit.

Tim.

I thought the heat/ps issue might be the problem. I pulled it out of the rack last night and turned it on. Did the same. New power supply then? Is this possible?

I have a pair of SDE1000's too, so I'm not dead in the water. Also have a couple of nice Deltalabs. One is pretty snazzy. They both sound great. I've been running the Space Echo and ATR700 while mixing our album. Now you can't beat those either.

The 3000 has hardly worked since I got it, but I did get to use it enough to know it's a good box. I'll keep on the case until I hear otherwise.

My Ibanez SDR1000 has also taken a dive. Jeez I bought it used ten years ago, and use it on every mix... wots the deal? Another great box. I use it for stereo drum 'verb.

Sort of nice to be forced to change work habits a little. I'm looking to replace the Ibanez.... I know there are more to be had... wish I'd had bought another when I saw one a few years ago.

With a little luck, I'll sell all the other junk I've put up on e-bay and will be able to get this fixed...

thanks to all.
