Oktava sale at GC?

Post by StivBatorsWreckedMyCar » Tue Jan 04, 2005 12:56 pm

http://www.guitarcenter.com/products/di ... .cfm?sel=6

I've heard these things have a spotty track record coming off the assembly line. Everybody seems to recommend the Sound Room, but how can I pass up this deal? I know, I lose 20 minutes off my life everytime I enter a GC. But as someone who is overhauling his mic collection should I bite?

Didn't I read somewhere that GC was dumping Oktava? Would this be their surplus inventory? Is their FU to Oktava?

it was thought that oktava was going out of business, GC wasn't receiving any new shipments. in the past GC has had intermittent sales on 319's @ 2 for $99, so i don't see this as an "FU". in fact i think the newer stock was purchased at a higher premium (because of demand?), which is why they can't drop to the 2 for $99 deal they had going before.

i like the 319 and it was my primary vocal mic until i purchased a rode k2 and a ksm44...

i thought it was a great deal at $100. I'd pick one up for $70, although I HAVE heard that there are good ones and bad ones.. Depending on your state, you might be able to take home a couple and test them and pick one.. not in california though.

I have a 319 and I use it a lot. Maybe I got one of the good ones. I got the toofer $99 deal and sold the other one to a friend for 50 bucks. I'd buy this mic for $70 again in a heart beat.

Yeah, the list price is nothing more than a rouse.

But it's a good mic and certainly worth $69 which actually seems to be GC's price on them all the time.

The Sound Room sells the 319 for around $270 so you won't find a better deal than GC right now.

Going to pick two up now. I'll run tests this weekend, and likely return one after that.

But, you do have to admit, that list price is pretty funny.

Mmmmkay. So these are good mics...or not. I don't care, I use lots of "bad" microphones. How do I get my hands on one if there isn't a GC near my house? Like, not within 100 miles. I'm not driving anywhere to pick up a $79 microphone. Anyone?

I don't suppose they're stocking/selling the MKL2500 for that price are they?

a lot of stores/sites are competitive and will agree to match the lowest price you can find in an ad. might be worth looking into!
