I found the tapeop boards!
Well, after about a year of reading tape op I have found the boards finally here. Just wanted to say Hey. I just have a small studio setup that I have been working on for about a year now, nothing fancy, but tape op is an excellent resource and has helped me in the process. Feel free to visit my studio if you like at my site listed in my signature. Looking forward to reading up on tips from users on the boards.

Thanks for the welcome all. Just out of curiousity, I am assuming that there are a lot more purists that hang out on the Tape Op boards than folks from the digital realm eh? The reason I ask is because I would like to read up more on the analog side of things with outboard gear processing especially. any suggestions to get started?

i don't know about the purist thing, but everyone being passionate about recording has got to count for something. for starters you might want to check out the "best of" thread - there's an awesome wealth of info at your fingertips. if you have a specific question it wouldn't hurt to start a thread either.

Hey man, welcome to the board.superpenguin79 wrote:Thanks for the welcome all. There's a little something for everybody here. There are a lot of poeple with digital setups, computer and otherwise, and there are a lot of people with analog setups, 4-track to 2". There are hobbyists and people who refuse to call themselves hoobyists and people who make their living recording whatever they can and people who have recorded songs to which you know all the words.
The board has been up and running in this format for almost two years. There's a wealth of information here already. By all means, use the search engine (which can be a little tricky) to see if you can find what you're looking for. Also, check out the "Best OF" sticky at the top, as some VERY kind TapeOpper (and I'm sorry I can't remember who it was) took a great amount of time and effort to set up what I think is an incredibly effective tool.
Be ready to dodge and laugh and cry and sweat and laugh and yell and kick and laugh some more. Also, as you get to know people, get ready to hear some really great music from some of these folks.
Best of luck!

There's a great plug-in for that digital system of yours that makes it even warmer:ihavecomputer wrote:for analog i tend to stick with wax cylinders.

The only true great mic on this planet is the Shure SM-57. It is the most consistant in not totally sucking of anything ever built. All other mics are "application dependant".
