2 track vs. 4 track
2 track vs. 4 track
OK- so the wider the tape the better. If i want to warm my digital stereo mixes, and i have say a 22-4 (4-track) , if i run the left side of my digital mix to track 1 and 2 , then the right side to track 3 and 4 ........then the result would be the same as using say a 22-2 (2 track)....right? or am i missing something?

Azimuth would have to be absolutely spot-on or it would thin via a kind of phasing effect. Fuck knows. Sissy?

Re: 2 track vs. 4 track
If the 4 track is 1/4", the track width on the 22-2 will be wider as you have to account for the gap between the tracks.

I believe this might be like communism...
I sounds like it makes sense, but it doesn't really work.

Whereas capitalism doesn't sound like it will work and, uh, doesn't work.

No, I believe the correct phrasing in this is, capitalism makes you work. Elementary, my dear Watson.
Honor thy error as a hidden intention.

1/4 inch 2 track = 1/8 inch per track
1/4 inch 4 track = 1/16 inch per track
