READ THIS IF YOU LIKE TAPE

Post by joel hamilton » Wed Jan 12, 2005 9:35 am

Just got off the Phone with the guys from Lyndstrom/ATR services.

THEY WILL BE MAKING TWO TAPE FORMULATIONS, IN ALL FORMATS WITHIN TWO TO THREE MONTHS!!!!!!!

Carl Rusk is who I was on the phone with, he is one of the people in the "doom and gloom" Wall St. Journal article.

There will be a High Output formulation based on some of our old favorites, and a lower output formulation based on a very old favorite.

YES. FOR REAL. THIS IS IN MOTION, AND THEY WILL BE MAKING TAPE WITHIN THE NEXT THREE MONTHS!!!!!!

This company should be supported. Obviously this was a wake up call.
Tell anyone with a tape machine. The tape will be BETTER quality than what we have been dealing with lately.

Forget all the speculation, and debate, and misinformation floating around.
People seemed to be just making up stories about tape for the last week. This is right from the horses mouth.

I was not at liberty to post anything about this for the last 6 months. I was just given the go-ahead and posted this. This is not speculation on my part, this is actual fact (for once) and I for one am really glad.

Sorry, just thought that maybe the first part was a little cruel if anyone actually did sell and/or replace.

Very good news though, do you think everyone knows? Is it too late for eBay? Actually, like i'm going to make a purchase like that over the net anyway.

No offense to the good people at ATR whatsoever -
but having been involved with manufacturing start ups & factory relocations before - the smart planner will allow for a few months leeway from announced time lines to true dates of seeing actual product ship.

Very good news though!

Best regards,
Steve Berson

Steve, These statements are based on that kind of lag time. This has been going on for a LONG time, though the announcement is brand new. This does not involve the factories that we know about that are in trouble (to start).

Without getting into speculation myself, this can be taken as an informed and specifically timed statement, not hearsay or rumors.

It IS very good news.

I might even buy some tape just because they stepped up to the plate. I don't have anything I could do with it but... hey... why not.

Joel, purely speculative, will the prices be comparable to what was previously on the market (i.e. 2 weeks ago)? I would expect some upswing in price obviously, but still curious.
