crazy ass panning is a great way to get around weak DAW summing. i.e., all the drums in mono somewhere over to the left, along with the bass. all the guitars off to the right somewhere, also mostly sharing the same spot, etc

then again ive also been monitoring my mixes with one speaker mono a lot lately.

i love the panning on David Bowies "the man who sold the world'

bass hard left with split guitars left and right and 'other' percussion all hard left, but the drums in mono all panned right.
