TUBE PRES

Post by audioaudioaudio » Sat Jan 22, 2005 8:53 am

Nothing like vox distorted by tubes.

I'm new to electronics, but I've been working on a clone of an Altec 1566A. I'm at an impasse. Please advise if you can help:

It oscillates (& hums, but I think that's a side issue) and no audio will pass--except over a small range of levels dialed in on the volume control. What could possibly be causing this?

Bad fiilter caps, perhaps.

I'd have to stick it on the bench to see.

I'll test them. Thanks!
