Behringer drops to unseen lows!
For those who weren't at NAMM Behringer now has a line of Boss and EH pedals.
I hate Behringer now more than ever.
I had to walk away from their booth before I started killing people.
I hear they list at $25.
They're all plastic too.

PEDALS, NOT FUCKING PETALS. PETALS ARE ON FLOWERS. PEDALS ARE ON THE FLOOR.

Re: Behringer drops to unseen lows!
Is it still wrong to buy their stuff used? I just got a Behringer compressor-- I couldn't help it, it was only $25 and in walking distance, and I don't have a hardware compressor. At least they don't get my money this way.

Behringer has been making effects for a long time and doing amp modelling for the last few years so it seems to me that floor pedals are just naturally what's next.

Re: Behringer drops to unseen lows!
Personally, I have nothing against it. I hope they give BOSS and EH a run for their money. What is not to love about it? Is BOSS some kind of sacred cow or something? Come on, they should be flattered by the attempt...
Accessibility is ALWAYS a good thing. Fuck the collectors who never use the stuff anyway, and jack prices of those pedals up to unseen before highs. I'm sick of seeing DM-2's on ebay go for $200 up. Would I buy a digital version packaged the same way? Maybe not, but I'd still love to hear what it sounds like.
I'm sure the sound is godawful, but that doesn't mean I'm not intrigued.

Well look, they copy the LOOK -- and you really care? Have you never played a tele ripoff because you couldn't afford the real thing? I have, and while it sucked compared to the original, I was at least playing and making music.
You all need to stop worrying about what the Boss legal dept. is doing and start making music with whatever you can afford. And this is all affordable. Look at this, they actually model a DS-1 and a RAT in one pedal. Fantastic.

Come on, Chris. This is nothing for Boss to worry about in the least. The sound is more important than the look anyway, right? So let's wait to see what they sound like.cgarges wrote:Are you serious? What's the big deal here? Either they'll produce a quality product and people will buy it, or they'll manufacture something akin to their current stuff.
(For the record, I'd call their stuff "occasionally useful".)
I use a behringer mixer for monitoring and running turntables through. sometimes as extra mic pre's. I also have a patchbay (thanks, drew!). In my experience, their compressors/exciters aren't effective.
although I don't believe the free market solves everything-- in this case, I'd agree with DryCounty's first statement. If a product makes it easier for people to create music, I'm for it.DryCounty wrote: Accessibility is ALWAYS a good thing.

and I'm not sure the sound is gawdawful. I'll reserve judgement till I hear one of these things. They can't be any worse than the danelectro stuff.

Re: Behringer drops to unseen lows!
I could care less that it's Boss or Mackie or Tascam or Massenburg or whatever or that's it's cheap or what it sounds like at all. The fact of the matter is that this company has been sued NUMEROUS times for stealing other companies' patents. They're getting more blatant about it with every trade show. It's ludicrous and completely lame behavior from a company--any company--to be that flagrant about stealing another company's product design and R&D. To suggest that Boss ought to be "flattered"that a company that's stolen numerous designs from other companies in the past and is heading right their way is absurd. I would be shocked if Boss anounced that Behringer was given permission to use the designs and even more amazed if they were "flattered" by having Behringer steal them. And judging by this company's history, that's most likely exactly what they did.DryCounty wrote:Come on, Chris. This is nothing for Boss to worry about in the least. I couldn't give two shits about the product itself. That's not what I'm talking about at all.
Personally, I can't wait for Behringer cymbals.
